Sheryl’s Tuesday

Day 3=Success! Why? Because I got to wear boots two days in a row, in MAY! I know, I know. Boots were not entirely called for today, but I felt quite confident in them today. Also, I love this outfit. Don’t ask me why. The jean jacket, dress and boots just make me feel trendy, comfortable and makes me want to travel somewhere overseas…just give me a cute tote, a scarf and some big sunglasses and I’d be ready to go anywhere!

While I did feel very studious today, as I spent the day in the classrooms at Baylor for the MSW Colloquium, I felt as my dress was a great mix of sophisticated and hip!

Now, I have to go figure out what will be in store for day 4…

Dress-The Loft, Jacket-Gap, Earings-Roots, Boots-Sam’s Club…yes, it’s true an I’m proud of it!

Jessica’s Day 3

Today’s pick came from a local thrift store. I had to take it in quite a bit on the sides to make it fit but that is an easy fix. I added the white belt, which I already had in my closet, to help it fit better too. I totally felt like I needed a big hat a la Julia Roberts at the races in Pretty Woman. Maybe I will pick one of those up for the rest of the month; for today I settled on pink heels.

MB’s Day 3

Today and tomorrow I am in Dallas for work, which is always the best time to wear comfy dresses! Look fancy and still be flexible enough to sort through all sorts of Dr Pepper things. This trapeze dress is one of my absolute favorites, but the straps and neck are kind of weird by themselves and give the whole thing a very muumuu look, so I pretty much always pair it with this jean jacket. It brings the dress in and just the right place and makes it all gathered looking. And of course I’m wearing tights and THE gray scarf to fight off the last little bit of chill today had.

Christy’s Day 1 & 2!

Hi! I am Christy. Hope I did this right. ūüôā I am a busy working mom who does not¬†have a lot time to fuss over¬†a wardrobe. I need quick and easy, but most of all cheap! I am always up to a challenge and love wearing dresses. I love the way I feel when wearing a dress/skirt.

Day One: Skirt – Target; Top – Old Navy.¬†The skirt was an ¬†impulse buy that paid off! ūüôā

Day Two: Skirt – Thrifted Old Navy; Shirt – Target; Sweater-Academy. I love thrifting. It is one of my most favorite things to do!!

Katie’s Day 2

I actually didn’t wear a dress for most of day 2. Sorry! It was very cold, which usually doesn’t keep me from dresses. Because of something at work, I had to look super sharp and professional. Unfortunately, my usual cold combatants (colored tights and knee high boots) aren’t super sharp and professional. I didn’t take a picture because A. you don’t care about my pants and B. I was a running around like crazy mess. In the evening, I had dinner with a friend from grad school and sent to 3spoons. This was my outfit for the occation. From head to toe – Long sleeve tee: Loft Dress: Target Jacket: J. Crew Leggings: Target Boots: Lands End

What’s that tacky tacky sheet doing up over your door, Katie? SO glad you asked!
The Zoo has some new foster doggies! Mama and 6 new born puppies!¬† Mama looks like a shepard mix and the puppies are a variety of colors.¬† Some look like their mama, some are all black and some are all white.¬† They are so sweet! They are all available for adoption through the Waco Humane Society.¬† Mama dog is at left.¬† She doesn’t have a name except for “You’re such a good Mama!” which is very true!¬† She takes care of her babies and makes sure they’re clean and have enough to eat, but she also lets us help her out a little.¬† She is also so very desperate for attention.¬† Even with all her puppies she still wags her tail and is excited to see us when we come to see her.¬† She LOVES belly rubs, too!¬† The babies are too tiny and squirmy to take pictures of yet. Their eyes aren’t even open.¬† I’ll put some up as soon as they’re bigger.

I hope you are having a lovely day 3!

Until tomorrow,

It’s a Dress, it’s a Skirt… SJ Day 3

So today’s dress is a hand-me-down from my younger sister. She recently cleaned out her closet and by “sister rules” I get first dibs before her other friends. She dutifully brought a trash bag full of clothes home for Easter and I picked through each piece looking for something flattering for me.

As luck would have it, Kate had a couple dresses in her cast-offs and I scooped those up along with some cute tops and skirts. (thanks sis!)

When it came to wearing this black dress, I was unsure about the hem’s clinginess. I know this is a popular style, but I’m not going clubbing. I’m going to work. Plus, it serves to accentuate my behind which needs no help thank you very much.

So I paired it with a nice full skirt and belt. I really want to wear a dress everyday, so this little trick helped me. The top of the dress looks great with the skirt and the bottom of the dress serves as a sort of slip. I also won’t run into that annoying bulk that can come from tucking a shirt into a skirt.

Jessica’s Day 2

I didn’t get a picture of my dress for May 1st, but rest assured, I was wearing one. It will probably get re-used this month; if so, I will point it out.

As for today, I busted out a sweater, wool skirt and tights, but it was still not warm enough. That’s okay though because I already got comments at work. People noticed that I was “dressed up” so I took the opportunity to fill them in on our quest for dresses. Maybe they will join us.

MB’s Day 1 & 2

Hello all! ¬†My name is Mary Beth and I’m pretty excited to wear a dress every day! ¬†I have A LOT of dresses, mainly because I like to wear things that closely resemble pajamas out in public as often as possible:) ¬†I live at The Zoo with Katie, and I get to take care of all the old stuff at the Dr Pepper Museum all day at work. ¬†I would usually rather be knitting, checking Twitter, and drinking coffee!

My day 1 was a little confusing as well.  This combo is something I usually spend the weekend in, and I wear tights ALL THE TIME!  So comfy.  But of course the day took a weird turn and I ended the day in yoga pants and a giant oversized rugby jersey courtesy of the boyfriend.

Dress: LOFT, thrifted  Tights: Urban Outfitters  Sweater: Old Navy  Shoes: Rainbows

Today I almost chickened out and wore pants but I decided to pull it together at the last minute.  I did, however, wear my rain boots all day which ended up being more warm than I thought it would be.  I love this outfit and wore versions of it a lot during the 30 for 30 Challenge in March.

Dress: Old Navy, thrifted  Shirt: American Eagle  Sweater:  Banana Republic  Belt: Target  Scarf: Chicago airport kiosk  Tights: Target  Rainboots: Target

If the weather holds up tomorrow I plan on wearing another favorite combination!

SJ Day 1&2

Day 1 of dress-a-day was going very well until it got very chilly! Of course, that’s when I got my husband to take my picture of the day shivering in the cold wind. Today’s dress was easy as I was helping host a wedding shower! It’s a very flattering navy chiffon number that I wore at my college graduation back in 2007.

Day 2 was another chilly day (Yay!) , which means more accessories! Today’s dress is a pink and brown wrap-around that I wore with brown chevron tights (that wouldn’t stay straight for the life of me), my pink and brown tweed jacket from Gap and my great-grandmother’s bead necklace. The only trick with this dress is to watch for the wind. Wrap-arounds are liable to unwrap if you’re not careful.

In other news, welcome to Dress-a-Day in May! Thanks for stopping by our blog. For more information on this fun clothing experiment, check out our About page and Who We Are to meet the ladies. The site is still a work in progress, so bear with us.

Stay classy and dressy!

Katie’s Day 1

Hey, friends!¬† I’m so happy you’re reading about our journey through the merry month of May!

A little about me:¬† I’m Katie.¬† I’m a social worker, a year out of grad school, employed by a large non-profit serving children and families – a hopelessly hopeful, absent minded, beg for forgiveness kind of young professional.¬†I live with three other lovely ladies (including Mary Beth who’s also risen to the dress a day challenge) in a giant old house.¬† Also in our giant old house, affectionately referred to as “the¬†Zoo”,¬†are two cats and three dogs.¬† Personally, I only own one dog, Evie, but it’s kind of a group effort.¬† I’m a busy body and always have been.¬† I love to Zumba and run with aforementioned pooch and¬†counterproductively go to 3spoons.¬† I’m kind of an old soul on an unrelenting quest to save junky antiques from whatever they need saving from.¬† I also enjoy portraiture, social media, diet coke and yoga pants.

Here’s day 1!

I didn’t get around to wearing a skirt/dress for a while today. After a lovely walk with Caryn¬†and an attempt to take a dip in her pool, I ended up with this outfit.¬† Definitely more for comfort and function than style, but it’s what I wore none the less.¬† One of my favorite jersey skirts, two comfy tank tops and some fresh out of the box Keds! Perfect for cuttin’ a rug!
